Sunday School Classes for all ages:
Children and Youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am before moving to their classrooms – Godly Play classes for children age 3 – 5th grade and Living the Good News for teens.
In the Rector’s Forum at 9:10, we are studying the Christian faith and life from an Anglican and Episcopalian point of view. This Sunday Father Dale will talk about the development of the New Testament. How did it come about? Who decided on the 27 writings that are included? How can someone accept the Bible but not the Church? Bring your Bibles!

We are going to Cahokia Mounds this afternoon, for a tour led by parishioner Margaret Brown, archeologist and former Director of Cahokia Mounds. We still have few places on the bus ($15 each) if you would like to join us! We are leaving the church at 1:00 pm, and will return between 4:00 and 4:30.

WEDG (the Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group) will meet at 11:30 for lunch on Tuesday, October 28, at Flamingo’s Restaurant (the former Maxwell’s) at 923 West Main Street in Belleville. Holy Time for Holy People
Sabbath Keeping Retreat – November 15, 2014
Think you are too busy for a day of retreat with your parish family? You are probably right, and that is the best possible reason to come away and experience a day of Sabbath rest. Join friends of all ages on Saturday, November 15, for a day filled with plenty of time, joy and nourishment; a day with everything we need; a day that just may give you new inspiration in your Christian spiritual practice.
The retreat will take place at Toddhall, our retreat center in Columbia, IL. It begins with registration and coffee at 8:30 am and concludes after Holy Eucharist, at about 4:45 pm.
The Rev. Jennifer Pedrick, rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, RI, will lead the retreat. While the adults are exploring the spiritual life, children ages 3 and up will enjoy a day of activities under the able leadership of Mae Scott, our Sunday School Coordinator.
Perhaps you recall that God said, “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.” With Jesus’ Resurrection, our day of worship changed to Sunday, the Lord’s Day. However, with even this day losing it’s meaning for busy folks, how might we reclaim a regular portion of sacred time in our lives as contemporary Christians? We will explore the theme of Sabbath keeping and the spiritual benefits of resting and renewing of mind, body and spirit. Discover or rediscover spiritual practices that just might change your life.
Come and enjoy some of the gifts we have been given: prayer, music, God’s word, learning, worship, and especially the gift of sacred time. There will be a $10 fee for adults to help defray the retreat’s expenses; children are free. Please use the enclosed envelope to register, and join your parish family for this enriching event!

Child Care is available Sundays mornings from 9:00 – 11:45 for infants to age six. The Nursery is at the top of the stairs in the Sunday School Building.
Restrooms with changing tables are located on the lower level. The stairway is just off the entrance and there is an accessibility lift available.

How to receive Communion – We believe this is Christ’s Body and Blood. Receive the consecrated wafer in your hands and raise it to your mouth to consume, or receive it directly on your tongue. (A Gluten Free host is available – let the clergy know if you need this option.) Assist the Chalice Bearer in guiding the Chalice to your lips. If for personal reasons – such as illness – you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the wafer on your palm and the Chalice Bearer will pick it up, intinct and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers from touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, cross your arms over your chest.
If you would like unction (anointing and healing prayer by the priest), please indicate this at the altar rail. Members of the Order of St. Luke are available (at the back of the church) for additional prayer if you wish.
