Announcements – June 10

American Red Cross Blood Drive: Today, St. George’s is partnering with the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Donors can be as young as 16, but need parental consent if under 18. Donating takes about 45 minutes to an hour and it’s a simple and nearly painless way to help those in need. All donors receive a gift card.

Become an Acolyte! Acolyte instruction begins today. Fr. Coleman is offering training this morning and next Sunday morning. Anyone ages 8 through adulthood can participate. Acolyting offers an opportunity to serve in worship. Acolytes lead processions, light and extinguish candles, ring the Sanctus Bells, and assist priests and deacons in preparation for Communion. Training follows the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist on both days. Training will be held in the nave.

Wednesday, June 27: The WEDG (Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group), will be gathering for dinner, 6 pm, on Wednesday, June 27th. We will be going to Peel Wood Fired Pizza, phone 726-2244, located at 104 South Cherry Street, O’Fallon. Ladies, aged 18 and above, please call the church office, 233-6320, for reservations (headcount). So please come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation. Hope to see you there!

Thursday, June 28: Exciting, electrifying, edifying and downright fun are some of the superlatives that have been used to describe St. George’s new Book Club. Their next meeting convenes on Thursday, June 28, 5:30 p.m. at the Abbey Restaurant, 5801 West Main St, Belleville, IL. The book for discussion is John Berendt’s Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Henry Evans will lead the discussion. All parishioners and friends are invited to attend. For additional information contact, Liz Stelling at 314-581-9017.
