Announcements – March 4


Sunday School: The Children and youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am for singing. Participants then break into groups for lessons. Ages 3-5 use the Godly Play curriculum. Older children and teens use specially prepared (age-appropriate) lessons.

Adult Forum: Meets from 9:15-10:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Beginning this week, The Adult Forum will be preparatory instruction for confirmation. Through discussion, lecture, and various exercises, the class will explore Christianity, the Episcopal Church, theology, spiritual practices, and the Anglican tradition. The class is open to anyone pursuing confirmation and to all parishioners.

The Lambeth/African Bible Study: Saint George’s Lambeth Study convenes in the conference room, 9:15 a.m. This meditative study focuses on the Gospel of the day.

Upcoming Events

Lenten Thursdays: Join various guest speakers and fellow parishioners for Lenten Thursdays. Evenings begin with a soup supper at 6 p.m., a talk is presented at 6:45 p.m., finishing up around 8:00 p.m. This Thursday, The Reverend Caleb Roberts (Curate, Emmanuel Church, Champaign, IL) will discuss, Why I Am a Priest in Today’s Church.

Soup Suppers: Please consider making a pot of soup for the

Lenten Thursday meals. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Parish Hall.

Easter Floral Donations: Easter Flower envelopes can be found in the pews. Anyone wishing to donate flowers should fill out the front portion of the envelope and return it, with a check or cash, to the offering plate or to the office by Monday, March 26.

Pantry Needs: The food pantry needs butter and personal care products. Donations may be brought to the office during business hours. Thank you!

Schaaf Memorial Lecture

Saturday, March 10

Everyone is invited to attend the 11th and final Lynn Schaaf Memorial Lecture, sponsored by St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Reverend Doctor Ralph W. Klein, (professor emeritus of Old Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology) is the guest speaker.

Dr. Klein’s lecture topic is, “Reformation Roots: Rare Books, Reformation Medallions, and Luther.” He will offer a presentation coupled with a slideshow about how the rare books in LSTC’s collection increase understanding of the Protestant Reformation.
