Giving Thanks to God with the UTO

It has been several years since Saint George’s has had an ingathering for the UTO. The UTO is the United Thank Offering of the National Episcopal Church. It is given in thanksgiving of the many blessings of this life. The monies collected are distributed to the various missions and ministries of the Episcopal Church worldwide.

This year, Saint George’s delegates to Synod will present a check to the UTO ingathering diocesan chairman. Donations should be placed in the offering plate, with a notation on the memo line of “UTO”. And, yes, as with all giving, it is tax deductible. Blessings are all around. Look deep into your heart, and be thankful.

The Blessing of the Animals & SHINE Service

On Sunday, October 8 at 5pm, Saint George’s and Saint Mark Lutheran Church will celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi with the Blessing of the Animals. The blessing is part of an outdoor SHINE Service that invites and includes our pets. Bring your pets on leashes or in carriers – stuffed animals are also welcome! This services replaces the regularly scheduled SHINE Eucharist.

Loaves and Fishes

The Saint George’s/Saint Mark Food Pantry is an ongoing effort to help and support families in the Belleville/Swansea area. Donations of canned meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, cereal, pasta, rice, beans, shampoo, dish soap, and toothpaste are always accepted. All donations should be left in the Narthex on Sundays, or brought to the office on weekdays.
