Third Sunday of Easter
April 30, 2017
A survey has been mailed and e-mailed to all parishioners. This survey is part of the Vestry’s efforts to evaluate programs at Saint George’s. The Vestry asks that surveys are completed, signed and returned to the church by May 3, 2017. Completed surveys may be placed in a special box in the Canterbury Room, or mailed or e-mailed to the parish office.
In some cases, more than one household member may be a parishioner. Each parishioner is asked to fill out a separate survey. Additional surveys can be found in the Canterbury Room. They can also be accessed at the parish web site https://stgeorges.wordpress.com.
Forward Day by Day
The May-July edition is now available in the Canterbury Room.
Become an Acolyte!
Saint George’s Parish is seeking new acolytes. This is a wonderful opportunity for children (grades 3 and up) and adults to serve God in His Church. A training session will be offered around late July/mid-August. If you are interested, please contact Nathan Scott at 618-477-3050 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Postal Carrier’s Food Drive
On Saturday, May 13, postal workers will collect non-perishable food for local food banks and shelters. You can contribute by placing your donation at your front door. A portion of these goods will be donated to the Saint George’s/Saint Mark Food Pantry. Volunteers are needed to sort and pack. If you would like to help, please contact Keith Kniepkamp at Keith.Kniepkamp@ExpressPros.com. Volunteers will gather at Saint George’s at 1:00 p.m.
on May 13
The Episcopal Diocese of Springfield Cursillo XXXV weekend will be held at Toddhall from June 22 through June 25, 2017. Taken from Romans 12:5, the theme, this year, is “…so we, being many, are one Body in Christ, and individually members of one another…” Using a specific method, the Cursillo weekend will equip and encourage Christians to live out their Baptismal Covenant to serve Christ. Applications can be found on the table in front of the St. George’s bulletin board in the Canterbury Room. Any questions concerning the upcoming Cursillo weekend should be addressed to Cindy Lynk @ (618)288-4439. The deadline for applications is May 31.
The WEDG (Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group) will be gathering for DINNER, 6:30 p.m., on Monday, May 22nd. We will be going to Fletcher’s Kitchen &Tap, phone number 239-3317, located at 6101 West Main, Belleville. This “Dutch-treat” event is open to all women, aged 18 and above, in the parish.
