WEDG – On Monday, August 8, the Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group will meet for dinner at 6:30 pm at Main Street 4204 Brewing Company, located at – obviously – 4204 Main Street in Belleville (phone 416-7261). Order your food and sit back, relax, and enjoy chatting with everyone. Please call the church office, 233-6320, for reservations (we need a head count). Come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation!
Donation statements – Giving statements for the first two quarters of 2016 are in the narthex and ready to be picked up. Please save us a stamp and take yours with you.
The Forward Day by Day devotionals for August, September, and October are available in the office and the narthex.
Food Pantry – Thank you for supporting the St. George’s / St. Mark Food Pantry! Please remember to pick up a few items for the hungry in our community when you go shopping. Right now we could use spaghetti sauce and cleaning products. Thank you.
Free Shirts – The St. George’s T-shirts on the table in the parish hall are from various past events, and we want you to have one. There is no charge, although we will gladly accept donations. Please help yourself to a St. George’s tee!
Multiplying plastic – There are many unidentified food containers on a rolling cart in the parish hall kitchen. Please check the “Tupperware Lost & Found” and see if any of it belongs to you! Anything left after a few weeks will be cleared out.
Flower Calendar and Sanctuary Light – There are still a few dates available on the Flower Calendar in August and September for anyone who wishes to sponsor flowers in honor or memory of a person or event. Flowers are $40 a Sunday, and the Sanctuary Light is $5. Signup sheets are on the bulletin board in the narthex.
Volunteers are needed to help mow the lawn. St. George’s will be responsible for August and October – St. Mark covers September and November. Use our lawn mower or bring your own. If you can help on occasion, please contact Joe Hooten. Thank you!
All baptized persons are welcome to receive Communion. We believe this is Christ’s Body and Blood, according to Christ’s very promise. One appropriately receives the consecrated wafer on your hands (right over left) and raises it to your mouth, or receives it directly on your tongue. Then assist the chalice bearer in guiding the chalice to your lips. If you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the host on your palm and the chalice bearer will pick it up, intinct, and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.
If you would like unction (anointing and healing prayer by the priest), please indicate this at the altar rail. Members of the Order of St. Luke are available on the south side of the church (near the votive candles) for additional prayer for those who wish. Simply move to that location after receiving communion.
- Restrooms are on the lower level. The stairway is just off the entrance and an accessibility lift is located in the narthex.
- Child Care is available for infants to age six from 9:00 – 11:45 am. The Nursery is at top of the stairs in the Sunday School Building.
- Assistive Listening Devices and large print copies of the Book of Common Prayer are available. Please ask an usher for assistance.
- Pastoral Emergencies after hours: Father Dale’s cell is 789-3723; Deacon Jody’s cell is 505-913-0375; and home is 416-1074.
