Announcements – April 3, 2016

Welcome to St. George’s We are glad you have chosen to worship with us today! Please sign our guest book and join us for refreshments and fellowship after each service.

Children and youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am to sing and share good news before moving to classes. Ages 3 thru 5th grade use Godly Play. Our teens’ lessons are prepared by Brian Maves.

The Rector’s Forum meets in the parish hall at 9:10, where Father Dale is teaching verse by verse through the Gospel of Mark, but today Fr. Boase will be your speaker!

The Lambeth Bible Study, a second option for adults, meets in the conference room. This study uses the Gospel reading for the day.

Welcome Father David Boase, who is preaching, celebrating, and leading the Forum this morning while Fr. Dale & Jody take a break.

Confirmation – Bishop Martins will be with us to preach and celebrate at both services on Sunday, May 15, and he will be the speaker at the Rector’s Forum that day. Anyone who is interested in being confirmed and/or any adults who are interested in being baptized, please speak to Fr. Dale or Deacon Jody. We will offer confirmation classes during the Christian Education period each Sunday morning between now and May 15.

Food Pantry – Please remember our pantry when you do your shopping. Donations of canned meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables, and dry goods such as cereal, pasta, rice, and beans are always needed, as are items such as shampoo, dish soap, and toothpaste. Bring donations to church on Sunday, or to the office during the week. Thank you for helping to feed the needy in our community!

Reminder – The Endowment Board meets today at 12:15.

St. George’s 2016 Parish Directory is available in the narthex.

The Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group (WEDG) will gather for lunch on Tuesday, April 12, at 11:30 am at Tavern on the Main, located at 301 East Main Street in Belleville (233-6246). Options include everything from homemade soups and salads, to pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches, with lots of other “stuff” tucked into the menu here and there. WEDG is for ladies age 18 and above, and everyone pays for their own lunch. Please call the church office at 233-6320 to make your reservations – we need a head count. Come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation!!

Our Altar Guild is very short-staffed and we need some assistance! There are many ways you might help: give one hour on Saturday morning once a month to help set up for Sunday services; help with washing and ironing some linens once a month; give some time before the 8:00 service to set out the elements; give some time before the 10:30 service to fill the oil candles; or help wash up after the second service. We are stretched very thin, and several of us have done this duty for years! Please speak to Duffy Walters or Deacon Jody or me if you would like more information. Thank you.

All baptized persons are welcome to receive Communion. We believe this is Christ’s Body and Blood, according to Christ’s very promise. One appropriately receives the consecrated wafer on your hands (right over left) and raises it to your mouth, or receives it directly on your tongue. Then assist the chalice bearer in guiding the chalice to your lips. If you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the host on your palm and the chalice bearer will pick it up, intinct, and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.

If you would like unction (anointing and healing prayer by the priest), please indicate this at the altar rail. Members of the Order of St. Luke are at the back of the church for additional prayer if you wish.
