SUNDAY SCHOOL RESUMES NEXT WEEK

Children and youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am to sing and share good news before moving to classes. Ages 3 – 5th grade use Godly Play, and our teens’ lessons are prepared by Brian Maves.

The Rector’s Forum meets in the parish hall at 9:10, where Father Dale is teaching verse by verse through the Gospel of Mark. Bring your bibles and join us as we continue with chapter 5 next Sunday.

The Lambeth Bible Study, a meditative approach to scripture, is a second option for adults. This group meets in the conference room, and everyone is welcome.

———————————————————————

Feast of the Epiphany – St. George’s and St. Mark will celebrate a joint Eucharist this Wednesday evening, January 6, at 7:00 pm.

———————————————————————

The 2016 Flower Calendar and Sanctuary Light Schedule are posted in the narthex. Sign up to sponsor the flowers or the candle on a particular Sunday by printing your name and the occasion on the date of your choice. The cost for flowers is $40, and the sanctuary light is $5.

Please pick up your 2016 Giving Envelopes in the Narthex.

Florence Martin Scholarships – St. George’s has funds to provide several scholarships for the 2016-17 school year to our members who have a high school diploma or GED and are continuing their education. The Application and instructions are available on our website, or by contacting the church office. Deadline to return all required documents to the parish office is March 1.

Our Annual Meeting will take place Sunday, January 31.

We will provide lunch after the 10:30 service and then move into the church for elect Vestry members and hear reports.

If you are interested in serving as a member of the Vestry or as a Deanery/Diocesan delegate, please speak to Senior Warden Frank Rogers or Junior Warden Candi Hamill.

If you are the chairperson or head of any group, commission, or ministry at St. George’s, your 2015 annual reports are due in the parish office by Monday, January 18. Thank you.

Communicants in Good Standing who are 16 or older and have been faithful in attending worship, and in praying, working, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God are eligible to stand for election and to vote.

Food Pantry – please remember our pantry whenever you are shopping and pick up a few extra items. Your food donations are always welcome, and we are running short on bar soap, tooth paste, shampoo, and dish soap. Thank you!

———————————————————————

“Undecorating” Day – Everyone is invited to join the Altar Guild at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 9 to help take down and put away all the Christmas decorations. Many hands make light work!

———————————————————————

All baptized persons are welcome to receive Communion. We believe this is Christ’s Body and Blood, according to Christ’s very promise, not “chip and dip”. Therefore, one appropriately receives the consecrated wafer on your hands (right hand over left) and raises it to your mouth, or receives it directly on your tongue. Then assist the chalice bearer in guiding the chalice to your lips. If for personal reasons you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the host on your palm and the chalice bearer will pick it up, intinct it, and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.

———————————————————————

If you would like unction (anointing with oil and prayer for healing by the priest), please indicate this at the altar rail. For those who wish, members of the Order of St. Luke are also available (near the votive candles on the south wall) to offer additional healing prayer after you have received communion.
