SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES

Children and youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am to sing and share good news before moving to classes. Ages 3 – 5th grade use Godly Play, and our teens’ lessons are prepared by Brian Maves.

The Rector’s Forum meets in the parish hall at 9:10.  Father Dale is teaching a verse by verse study of the earliest of the four Gospels, the Gospel of Mark.  Bring your Bibles!

The Lambeth Bible Study, a meditative approach to scripture, is a second option for adults.  This group meets in the conference room.

Bishop Michael Curry is being installed as our 27th Presiding Bishop today at 12:00 noon (EST) at the Washington National Cathedral.  Bishop Curry will preach at the service, which will include Anglican, ecumenical, and interreligious guests as well as Episcopal bishops, General Convention deputies, Executive Council members, and other leaders.  You can watch the video of the service afterwards at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5YZtmFkNyU. Please pray for Bishop Curry and the Episcopal Church!

Boy Scout Food Drive – We will need volunteers to help sort donations for the Food Pantry during the Boy Scout Food Drive on Saturday, November 21.  If you can offer an hour or two late morning or early afternoon, please contact the office and we will provide more information. And please remember, your donations of canned and dry goods are always needed, as are dish and laundry soap, toothbrushes & toothpaste! Thank you.

Leaves and Snow – We do not have a Fall Clean-up Day scheduled because too many things are going on, but please feel free to rake and bag leaves as you have the urge! And it’s time to put together a snow removal team for the winter. If you can volunteer to help remove snow from our sidewalks and steps, or if you would like more information, please contact the parish office or call Joe Hooten at 567-9693.

How to receive Communion – We believe this is Christ’s Body and Blood. Receive the consecrated wafer in your hands and raise it to your mouth, or receive it directly on your tongue. (A gluten-free host is available – let us know if you need this option.) Please assist in guiding the Chalice to your lips. If for personal reasons you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the host on your palm and the Chalice Bearer will pick it up, intinct and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest.  All baptized persons are welcome to receive Communion.
