Announcements – December 28, 2014

Welcome to St. George’s. We are glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. Please sign our guest book and join us for refreshments and fellowship after each service.

Sunday School Classes will not meet today. Next week:

Children and youth gather in the Chapel at 9:00 am before moving to their individual classes, using Godly Play for children through 5th grade and Living the Good News for grades 6 – 12.

The Rector’s Forum meets in the Parish Hall at 9:10. We are studying the Christian faith and life from an Anglican and Episcopalian point of view. Everyone is welcome.

Our Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, January 25. We will provide lunch after the 10:30 service and then move into the church for the meeting.

Elections – If you are interested in serving as a member of the Vestry or Toddhall Board or as a Diocesan delegate, please speak to Brian Maves, Chuck Evans, or Michelle Ziegler.

Deadline for Reports – If you are the chairperson or head of any commission, group or ministry at St. George’s, your 2014 reports are due by January 15.

Florence Martin Scholarships – St. George’s is blessed to have funds from a bequest to help with our education programs. One program this money provides is Scholarships for members of St. George’s who have a high school diploma or GED. The Vestry has funds to provide several scholarships of $2000 each for the 2014-15 school year. The Application and instructions are available on our website, or by contacting the church office. Deadline for completed applications is March 1.

Please pick up your 2015 Giving Envelopes in the Narthex. Please check to be sure the envelopes have your name – numbers have changed in order to save money by only ordering as many envelopes as we actually use.

We also have 2015 Ordo Calendars available – please help yourself!

Stewardship – If you have not yet made your pledge for the work of our Lord Jesus Christ through St. George’s in 2015, please do so as soon as possible. Pledge cards are still available in the Narthex and the Parish Office. Thank you.

Three will be NO Wednesday Yoga class on December 31. Beginning in January, the class will start at 2:00 pm instead of 1:30. Everyone is welcome to take part in this free weekly class offered by parishioner Candi Hamill.

Your Parish Library is open! It’s reorganized and ready for you to stop and browse. Please sign out books using the blue folder on the table. We gratefully accept donated books, though reserve the right to pass them on if they are outside our categories. Please take donations to the church office so they can be properly processed. And note that the shelves on the immediate are St. Mark’s, which has its own procedure for checking out books.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to help us deliver meals. Hours are 10:15 – 12:15, and you can have your choice of days – even once a week will help. Very clear directions are provided, even if you not familiar with the Belleville/Swansea area. For more information, please speak to Frank Rogers (277-1406) or Deacon Jody (233-6320).

If you would like unction (anointing and healing prayer by the priest), please indicate this at the altar rail. Members of the Order of St. Luke are available for additional prayer for those who wish.

How to receive Communion – This is Christ’s Body and Blood. Receive the consecrated wafer in your hands and raise it to your mouth to consume, or receive it directly on your tongue. (A Gluten Free host is available – let us know if you need this option.) Assist in guiding the Chalice to your lips. If for personal reasons such as illness you wish to receive by “intinction”, leave the wafer on your palm and the Chalice Bearer will pick it up, intinct and place it on your tongue. Do not intinct yourself – this prevents fingers from touching the wine. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, cross your arms over your chest.

Child Care is available for infants to age six Sundays from 9:00 – 11:45 am. The Nursery is at top of the stairs in the Sunday School Building.

Restrooms are on the lower level. The stairway is just off the entrance and an accessibility lift is located in the narthex.
