Next Sunday Rev. Peter Muschinske, a Lutheran pastor and Navy Chaplain, will be at St. George’s to preach and celebrate at both services and to speak about military chaplaincy at the adult forum.

The Flower Calendar still has dates available in May and June as well as later in the year. Flowers are $40 per Sunday, and two people can share a date if they wish. You can also sponsor the Sanctuary Candle for $5 on a Sunday.  Both calendars are posted in the parish hall.

The Food Pantry received 31 cases of food collected by Belleville School District #118 last week! Thanks to George Evans, Frank Rogers, Nolan Haefner, Judi McDonald and Jody Coleman for helping sort everything, store it, and break down boxes.

 WEDG (Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group) will gather Thursday, May 1, at 6:30 pm at the Swansea Family Restaurant (Hwy 159 immediately south of the MetroLink). All women 18 and above are invited to come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation! We need a head count, so please call the Church office at 233-6320 to let us know you’re coming.

Cursillo Retreat June 19–22 at Toddhall. Cursillo is an opportunity to grow in our Christian faith. This weekend is led by lay persons and includes talks, reflection, song, group activities, worship, fun, and fellowship. Spiritual counseling with clergy is also available. Cost of the weekend is $175, and scholarships are available.  Pick up an application in the narthex. Lutheran School of Theology will offer the course “Where Faith and Science Meet: Exploring How We Know and Create Meaning for our Lives” on Tuesdays from April 22 – May 13 at 7:00 pm in St. George’s Parish Hall. The instructor will be the Rev. Dr. Dan Handschy, rector of Church of the Advent (Episcopal) in Crestwood and adjunct professor at Eden Theological Seminary.  Father Handschy holds an undergraduate degree in physics, a Master of Divinity degree, and a doctorate in Historical Theology.  Tuition is $64.  To register, please visit http://www.lststl.org/ or call (314)725-9710.
