April 6, 2014
Welcome to St. George’s! We are glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. Please sign our guest book and join us for refreshments and fellowship (adults and children) after each service.
The Lenten Adult Forum continues to explore “Aids for the Spiritual Life” Sunday mornings at 9:10 am in the parish hall.
Today – The Rev. Gwynne Schultz, a pastor in the United Church of Christ with nearly two decades’ experience in training spiritual directors, will discuss the value of spiritual companions in hearing God’s voice in our lives.
Next week, April 13: Study and the Renewing of Our Minds — Bishop Ed Salmon, retired bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina, will explore the essential role of studying the Bible and other reliable spiritual writings in our faith development.
Stations of the Cross – St. Mark Lutheran, St. Luke’s Roman Catholic, and St. George’s Episcopal will gather at St. Luke’s to pray the Stations of the Cross at 12:10 pm this Friday, April 11. The following week, on Good Friday, April 18, we will meet at St. George’s and pray the Stations as we walk to St. Luke’s. In addition to being a prayerful Good Friday devotion, this is a wonderful witness to our community.
Just one more Lenten Soup Supper – We will complete our series about the role of women in various religious traditions this Thursday evening, April 10, when the Rev. Suzanne Wolfenbarger and Deacon Jody Coleman talk about Women’s Ministries in the Episcopal Church. We begin with a simple soup supper at 6:00 pm followed by the presentations at 7:00 pm. Please bring a pot of your favorite soup, breads or relishes, or just yourself! Child care is provided.
The Altar Guild welcomes any and all volunteers to help get our church spic & span for Holy Week and Easter. Please join us to assist with this project on Saturday, April 12, at 9:00 am.
Next week, April 13, is Palm Sunday. The congregation will gather in the narthex for the Blessing of the Palms at 8:00, and in the breezeway at 10:30. We are very pleased that Bishop Edward Salmon will be with us to preach at both services and to speak at the Adult Forum about Bible study as an aid to a spiritual life.

Our parish family generously supports the fundraising efforts of local schools, scouts, and other youth organizations. Please reminder to get approval from the Senior Warden and then – instead of approaching people individually – set up a table at coffee hour.
Volunteers Needed – We need help mowing our lawn again this year. If you can lend a hand, please call the church office (233-6320) or call Joe Hooten (235-7290), or sign up on the form posted on the kiosk in the Parish Hall. Thank you!
