Today we welcome the Rt. Rev. Ed Salmon, retired bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina. In addition to preaching at both services, Bishop Salmon is our speaker for the last of the Forums exploring “Aids for the Spiritual Life”, where he will talk about the essential role of Bible study and spiritual writings in our faith development.
HOLY WEEK & EASTER SCHEDULE
Maundy Thursday, April 17, 7:00 pm – Celebration of the Institution of the Eucharist with Foot Washing and Stripping of the Altar. Father Dale will preach. Nursery provided.
Good Friday, April 18, 12:10 pm – Stations of the Cross beginning at St. George’s and processing to St. Luke’s, followed by a light soup lunch.
7:00 pm – Good Friday Liturgy with St. Mark Lutheran with St. John’s Passion and Veneration of the Cross. Deacon Jody will preach. Nursery provided.
Easter Vigil, April 19, 8:00 pm at St. Michael’s, O’Fallon – Lighting of the New Fire, Litany of the Saints and first Eucharist of Easter. Father Dale will preach.
Easter Day, April 20, 8:00 am – Holy Eucharist with Hymns, 9:30 – Children’s Easter Egg Hunt, 10:30 am – Solemn High Eucharist (incense), bring Bells!
Donations for Easter Flowers must be in by Wednesday. Checks can be made out to St. George’s (put “Easter Flowers” on the memo), or use the special envelopes in the pews. If your donation is in honor or memory of someone, please indicate the information clearly.
Volunteers needed tomorrow, April 14, to help sort canned items for the Food Pantry. Donations, which were collected by Belleville School district 118, will be sorted in the Conference Room beginning at about 11:00 am. Please come and help us get organized!
Cursillo Retreat June 19–22 at Toddhall. Cursillo is an opportunity to grow in our Christian faith. This weekend is led by lay persons and includes talks, reflection, song, group activities, worship, fun, and fellowship. Spiritual counseling with clergy is also available. Cost of the weekend is $175, and scholarships are available. Pick up a brochure and application in the narthex. The WEDG (Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group) will be gather Thursday, May 1, at 6:30 pm at the Swansea Family Restaurant (on Hwy 159 immediately south of the MetroLink). All women 18 and above are invited to come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation! We need a head count, so please call the Church office at 233-6320 to let us know you’re coming.

Episcopal Church Women – The Annual Meeting of the Diocese of Springfield ECW will take place May 3, from 10:00 – 1:00, at St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Effingham. Please contact the church office for more information.
