RenewalWorks Project Underway! — St. George’s participation in this parish renewal initiative, a joint project of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago and Forward Movement Publications, is underway. Notifications have been sent by mail/email inviting everyone to take the survey between now and March 18. The survey can be completed online at this link: http://www.insightexpress.com/s/Epis193755?uid=6690&resetposition=true. For those who do not have internet access or prefer not to complete the survey via cyberspace, paper copies are located in the Canterbury Room (taking the survey online is strongly encouraged for those with internet access). You may also use one of the office computers to take the survey (call the office in advance to make arrangements). This survey is a great way for your voice to be heard in the shaping of our parish life. Return completed paper surveys to the church office before March 18, 2013.

ADULT FORUM: “SONGS, SAINTS AND THE SEASON OF LENT”St. George’s Music Director Dr. Nancy Ypma continues a four-week series on Lenten music in the Adult Forum. In “Songs, Saints and the Season of Lent” Nancy explores Lenten music, its composers and texts, using the anthems the choir is singing as a basis of each class and showing how the music of Lent leads us to a joyful Easter. The series runs through NEXT SUNDAY, March 17. Join us!

EASTER FLOWERS: Envelopes to purchase Easter flowers are available in the bulletins this morning. Please list the name(s) of those you are memorializing/honoring and YOUR name(s) on the envelope (how you would like names to appear in the Easter bulletins).
The following dates are still available for flower sponsorship after Easter: June 30; Sept. 8, 15; Oct. 20, 27; Dec. 8. Please sign up on the kiosk in the parish hall, or call the church office. The cost is $40. There are also several dates available to sponsor the Sanctuary Light (list can also be found on the kiosk in the parish hall). Cost to sponsor is $5.

FLORENCE MARTIN SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE THIS WEEK: The requirements for scholarship applicants and the application are available on St. George’s web site: https://stgeorges.wordpress.com. The application can be filled out and printed online. Submissions must be enclosed in a sealed envelope and postmarked no later than this Friday, March 15, 2013.

Lenten soup suppers continue, offer interfaith discussion of “The Stewardship of Creation” St. George’s Lenten Soup Supper series this year, “The Stewardship of Creation,” examines the teachings of various religions about our responsibility as people of faith to care for the Earth. Held Thursday evenings, the remaining schedule includes the following guest speakers:
• March 14: Jewish Teachings, with Alan Nemes, St. George’s favorite Jewish scholar and an intellectual property attorney with the St. Louis firm of Husch Blackwell.
• March 21: The Christian Theology of Caring for Creation, the Rev. Dr. Donald C. Wagner, senior pastor at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, Illinois.
The evening begins with a simple supper of soups, relishes and hearty breads at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The program follows, beginning between 6:45 and 7 and concluding by 8 p.m. *If you are interested in making soup, please sign up on the bulletin board in the parish hall.
As always, participants are asked to contribute what they would otherwise have spent for dinner. Proceeds will go to the Southwestern Illinois Violence Prevention Center, to help replace its dishwasher.

YOU’RE INVITED: On Thursday, March 14, our music director, Nancy Ypma, will give a recital at Christ Church Cathedral, 1210 Locust St. in St. Louis at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
