Announcements for Dec. 9

IN THE ADULT FORUM THIS MORNING, Fr. Dale will move to Paul’s First Letter to the Church of Corinth, chapter 9. In this chapter, Paul lays out his meaning of being an Apostle and a Bishop through love and constraint. This guides his actions and teaching as a Bishop. A Bishop must first of all be a loving witness of Jesus who died for the world out of love.

ANY AND ALL CHILDREN ARE INVITED to come to the Chapel at St. George’s this Sunday to rehearse for the big “Christmas Pageant” production at 9:00 am. The Pageant will be held on Sunday, December 23 at the 10:30 am worship service! Deacon Jody, with a wealth of experience and with great joy in working with children and youth, is our Christmas Pageant director this year. She hopes any kids who wish will come and join in. Deacon Jody has written the Pageant from the Bible with many Christmas Carols included!

ANNUAL MEETING IS SCHEDULED for January 27, 2013. The nominating committee is seeking three new Vestry members and five members to serve as representatives for the Diocesan Synod. If you’re interested or want more information, please contact Dan Duncan, Hal Inabinet, or Betsy Rogers.

ST. GEORGE’S WILL HOLD A CHRISTMAS BLOOD DRIVE on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, 9am – 1pm in the parish hall. Please donate and give a gift that cannot be bought. If you have any questions, please call Frank Rogers at 277-1406. Literature is on a table in the parish hall.

THE ANGEL TREE DEADLINE IS TODAY! Remember to leave your Angel Tree gifts on the back pews near the prayer candles this morning. Thanks to all who participated!

MEMORIAL ENVELOPES FOR CHRISTMAS FLOWERS are included in the bulletin this morning and are located in the pew card holders. Please clearly print the name of those you are remembering and place the envelope in the offering plate. Envelopes can also be dropped off at the church office no later than Wednesday, December 19 for names to be included in the Christmas bulletin.

ATTENTION ALL CHRISTMAS COOKIE BAKER’S: Please consider preparing an extra couple of dozen for inmates in the St. Clair Co. Jail and the Belleville Juvenile Detention Center (No peanuts or peanut butter as some inmates are allergic). Drop off cookies at the church on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. Cookies will be packaged on Mon., Dec. 17, at Christ UMC, 339 Frank Scott Parkway at 6pm, and delivered to inmates on Dec. 20 at 6pm. You are invited to participate if you are able. This may be the only Christmas gift many inmates will get, so it’s a powerful witness that God loves them and has not forgotten them. Contact Joe Bono for additional info.

THE WEDG (Women’s Ecumenical Dining Group) will be gathering for our annual Advent dinner at Fischer’s Restaurant, 2100 W. Main, Belleville, on Mon., Dec. 17, at 6:30pm. Please come as we prepare for our Lord’s coming. RSVP to the church office at 233-6320. Come for Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Conversation.
