Lynette Schneider, a parishioner from St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belleville, carries the cross during the Procession of the Cross Friday afternoon. She is followed by Pastor David Darin and Deacon Bob Lanter, both from St. Luke’s Catholic Church. This year, the annual procession began at St. George’s Episcopal Church and St. Mark’s Lutheran church (which share a combined structure at North High and East D. Streets) and ended at St. Lukes, a few blocks away. The Good Friday joint event includes ministers and church members from the three churches. The procession of about one hundred people walked through the neighborhood the three churches share, stopping periodically for each of the Stations of the Cross where the clergy took turns speaking and leading the marchers in prayer and song. The procession ended at the St. Luke Parish Hall, where a light meal of soup and bread was served.
