ADULT FORUM IN MARCH- This Sunday, Fr. Dale Coleman is teaching at the Adult Forum on Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. Using new historical and archaeological evidence from digs occurring at this first century site (as well as learning important Greek words) enables a excellent grasp of understanding Paul’s insistence on proclaiming the Cross as central to the Christian Faith. Paul broadly attacks any other way of establishing Churches including relying on personalities which has been the bane of Protestantism and today’s Mega Churches. These obviously include Joel Osteen’s , Joyce Meyer’s, Robert Schuller’s, and just about everything on TBN! Come and study the meaning of I Corinthians and bring your Bibles!

Lenten soup suppers

Series to explore history of religion in America

God in America, PBS’ acclaimed series about how religious faith has shaped America, will be the program for St. George’s Lenten soup supper gatherings this year, to be held every Thursday night beginning March 1 and continuing through March 29.

This presidential election year, in which Mormons, evangelicals, Roman Catholics and many others are all in the spotlight, seems an apt time to examine the ongoing role of religious belief in our nation’s common life.

The evening begins with a simple soup supper at 6 p.m. A free will offering will raise funds for local human services organizations. The program will follow at 6:45.

Plan to join us! — and if you like to make soup, please show off your best recipes for your fellow-parishioners! We will also need helpers to bring relishes and bread. There is a sign-up sheet downstairs on the parish hall kiosk.

DEADLINE FOR THE APRIL NEWSLETTER is Wednesday, March 14, 2012! Please submit information to Tom Boschert, Editor, stgdragon@gmail.com or to the church office at stgeorgeoffice@sbcglobal.net.
