WEDG (WOMEN’S ECUMENICAL DINING GROUP) ON WED., AUG. 10 at 6:30 pm at the Pasta House. It is located in the shopping center at the northeast corner of Hwy 159 and Frank Scott Parkway, in Fairview Heights. WEDG is open to all women 18 years and above. Please come and if you are a potential “first-timer”, don’t be shy you are guaranteed to know most everyone at dinner. So call the office for a reservation (head count) at 233-6320. ST. GEORGE’S IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING CARE OF THE LAWN THE MONTH OF AUGUST. If you can help with this task, please contact Joe Hooten at 235-7290.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS. The food pantry is running low on canned beans, canned meat products (tuna, beef stew, chicken and dumplings etc.), and canned fruit. We are also getting request for fruit juice or drinks, laundry detergent and personal care products. Please help if you can. The next food drive is not until November.
THE COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMISSION is collecting school supplies for the Franklin Neighborhood Community Association July 17th through Aug. 14th. The FNCA provides school supplies for children who are part of FNCA’s after school tutoring program and children in need. Please bring school supplies to the Canterbury Room on Sundays July 17th– August 14th or to the church office weekdays from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Please Note: Missouri Tax Free weekend for school supplies and clothes is Aug. 5-7. Illinois does not appear to have a tax holiday this year.
School Supplies Include:
Folders with pockets and brads, crayons, pencils (regular and colored), washable markers (original & thin), highlighters, pencil sharpeners, notebooks, backpacks (tote bags), school glue, glue sticks, erasers (big & pencil top) note cards, scissors, book covers, pencil boxes, flashcards (math, alphabet, etc.), E-Z writing tablets (paper for younger kids), loose-leaf wide-lined paper, 3-ring binders, indexed dividers for binders, protractors, rulers, compasses, calculators, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, erasable pens, and red pens. Also check school lists provided at Walmart, Target, and Walgreens for Franklin Elementary School.
