Lenten Quiet Day April 9

The Rev. Alan Herbst, rector of Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Champaign, Illinois, will lead a Lenten quiet day titled “The Word Is Very Near You: Listening Is an Act of Love” at St. George’s Saturday, April 9, beginning at 9 a.m.

Fr. Herbst is known and loved by many in this parish who have benefited from his leadership in the diocese and his service as chaplain at last year’s synods to nominate and elect our next bishop. He is an experienced retreat conductor and has a gift for helping people grow in prayer and the spiritual life.

The quiet day will include three meditations and time between them to reflect, either in silence or as part of a group discussion. The schedule:

    9 am      Coffee (parish hall)
    9:30      Meditation (chapel)
    10:30      Meditation (chapel)
    11:30      Lunch (parish hall)
    12:45 pm  Meditation (chapel)
    2      Eucharist (chapel)

The event includes a light sandwich lunch. Child care will be provided if it is requested in advance.

The Spiritual Growth Commission is sponsoring the quiet day as a Lenten opportunity for refreshment and prayer. Please join us! Registering in advance (233.6320 or stgeorgeoffice@sbcglobal.net) will help us know how much food to provide.
