“THE ANGLICAN SPIRIT” by Michael Ramsey edited by Fr. Dale is available in the Bookstore.  Cost is $14.   This Fall, there will be an adult forum using this book.

YOUTH EVENT – SRT (Silver Ring Thing) is Sun., Aug. 30, at 3:00 pm in the parish hall.  The event is designed for ages 12 & up and their parents. The idea of this program is to encourage teens to remain celibate and follow God’s teachings in this very difficult world. YARN! YARN! After reading about Common Threads in the St. Elizabeth’s newsletter, a family donated 2 boxes & bags of yarn to Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Any group that uses yarn in projects, please help yourself to it which will be in the library.

DONATIONS TO UPDATE THE COMPUTER LAB will be accepted throughout August. If you would like to help offset the cost, please make your checks payable to St. George’s on the memo line “Church School Computers”.  Envelopes available on the table in the Canterbury Room. CHILI COOK OFF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  We need volunteers to help cook the ground turkey for this year’s Chili Cook Off, Fri.-Sat., Oct. 2 & 3.  David Buckley needs 2-3 people each day to cook turkey in the parish hall on Weds.,Sept. 16, 23, & 30 – 1:00 pm-7:00pm.  Contact David, 520-9333, for details.  Please watch for signup sheets to volunteer at the booth.

God Seekers: A History of Christian Spirituality – This class will be offered in the parish hall on 6 consecutive Tuesdays (Sept. 15-Oct. 20) 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.  Dr. Warren Crews, retired Associate Rector, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, & adjunct faculty, Eden Theological Seminary, is the teacher.  Using the new book, “God Seekers: 20 centuries of Christian Spiritualities” by Richard Schmidt, this class will explore in depth famous saints & their different approaches to scripture reading, meditation, & prayer.  Those to be studied will be Augustine, Patrick, Benedict, Bernard, Luther, Ignatius of Loyola, the Wesleys, & a number of contemporary authors.  Sponsored by Lutheran School of Theology, tuition is $81.  To register, go to www.lststl.org or talk with Pastor Neustadt (233-7914).
