Mar. 19 thru Apr. 2. Soup Supper at 6:00 pm. Fr. Dale will be the presenter beginning at 6:45 for the soup supper programs, exploring the nature of the church and its sacraments. How does God work in and through the church? How does He come to us in baptism, eucharist, confirmation, ordination, marriage, reconciliation and unction? What does it mean to be the Body of Christ? The program will conclude by 7:30 pm.
LENTEN SPECIAL OFFERINGS FOR 2009 (Soup suppers, Mite Boxes) will go to help Deacon Suzanne with her Seminary expenses.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR HELPERS FOR THE SOUP SUPPERS. Soup makers, bread and relish providers and folks to set up and clean up. Sign up sheet on the KIOSK in the Parish Hall.

TODAY Community Service is collecting cleaning items for the Violence Prevention Shelter (Belleville Women’s Shelter). Please bring laundry detergent, fabric softener, bleach cleaners (e.g. Lysol, Mr. Clean, Spic & Span) cleansers (Ajax, Comet, Mr. Bubble, etc.) dish detergent, hand/bath soap, shampoos/cream rinse, toothpaste/toothbrushes (adult/children’s soft) disposal baby diapers, baby wipes and laundry baskets.
HEALING WOUNDED SOULS: The church’s ministry to veterans returning from war. Valerie Yancy, Ph.D., RN of Southern Illinois U., Edwardsville, will speak on the church’s unique ministry to returning military veterans. St. Mark Lutheran’s Lynn Schaaf Memorial Lecture Series will be Sun., Mar. 22, at 7:00 pm in the church. No charge.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2009 FLORENCE MARTIN SCHOLARSHIP are now available in the church office. The scholarship is available to St. George’s members for the purpose of attending college, seminaries, nursing or medical school.
