ADULT FORUM FOR OCTOBER

Beginning today, Fr. Dale will teach about our heritage as Anglicans & Episcopalians using slides ,and the book he edited (available in St. George’s Gift Shop), Archbishop Michael Ramsey’s The Anglican Spirit.  The book was originally published in 1991, & re-published by the Episcopal Church’s “Church Publishing” as a Seabury classic in 2004. It includes a Foreword by the present Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams. The schedule will be

Today, Oct. 11: Our Anglican Heritage, Beginnings (book, Foreword, Preface, Chap. 9)

Oct. 18: English Reformation I (book, Chapters 1 and 2)

Oct. 25:  Missionary Outreach to America (book, Chap. 3)

Nov. 1:  The Oxford Movement, and its effects on the Episcopal Church (Chapter 4)

Nov. 8: A True Anglican: F. D. Maurice  (Chapter 5)

Nov. 15 Two Great English Leaders: Charles Gore & William Temple (Chapters 6,7)

Nov. 22: Anglicanism Since WWII (Chapter 8)

Nov. 29: Where we are Today in the Episcopal Church

A further note: our Parish Library holds many wonderful classics for Episcopalians, and it would reward anyone to look over our collection.  There is no better introduction to the Christian Faith than Bishop N. T. Wright’s Simply Christian. C. S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity is a great classic from WWII.  A third book is Alister McGrath’s I Believe. The latter two authors are from Northern Ireland.

THE ORDER OF ST. LUKE will be offering Healing Prayers classes this Fall.  There will be an informational meeting on Sun., Oct. 18, after the 10:30 service in the Conference Room.  Please contact Gail Heiting, 394-1852, if you are interested but unable to attend the meeting.
